Volunteer Program

The School Volunteer Program is responsible for electronic registration, background checks and trainings of volunteers. There are two different levels of volunteerism.

Level 1: Complete a database background check

  • Day chaperones for field trips
  • Classroom assistants
  • Math and/or reading tutors.

Level 2: Complete a fingerprint background check

  • Certified Volunteers
  • Mentors
  • Listeners/Oyentes
  • Athletic/Physical Education assistants
  • Overnight chaperones.

Any individual interested in volunteering in Miami-Dade County Public Schools must:

  • Show a current valid government-issued identification with picture.
  • Show a social security card (check name and number).
  • Complete a background check.
  • Upon clearance, attend an orientation at the school.
